The Rifkind Center for the Humanities and Arts mourns the loss of Richard A. Rifkind, M.D., son of Simon S. Rifkind and Adele S. Rifkind. Dr. Rifkind was Chairman and Chief Scientific Officer of the Sloan-Kettering Institute for Cancer Research and before that a Professor of Medicine and of Human Genetics at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He is the founder of Aton Pharma, which develops therapeutics for cancer and other diseases, and has authored over 250 scientific papers and a book, Fundamentals of Hematology.
